Project Background: The Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Tracker is a prototype clinical decision support tool developed through a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy and Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office. The application maps geographic variation in antibiotic susceptibility across Wisconsin, helping clinicians compare which antibiotics are most likely to be effective for a patient based on their location. The research used hospital antibiograms collected over several years, representing more than 200,000 bacterial isolates. Spatial interpolation was used to transform discrete measurements into statewide susceptibility maps for seven antibiotics.
My Role: (As State Cartographer’s Office staff) Geospatial analysis, cartographic methodology, UI/UX design and development, application development project management, technical contributions to peer-reviewed publication.
Public Link: Application is not publicly available, peer reviewed article published in Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and School of Pharmacy article.
Stack: ArcGIS Pro, Leaflet.js, HTML, .css, .js
Features:

Geographic Susceptibility Mapping – Visualize predicted antibiotic susceptibility across Wisconsin using spatially interpolated hospital antibiogram data.
Location-Based Treatment Comparison – Enter an address or select a location on the map to compare antibiotics ranked by their predicted susceptibility at that location.
Interactive Antibiotic Layers – Select individual antibiotics to explore how susceptibility and resistance patterns vary geographically across the state.
Clinical Decision Support – Translate complex antibiogram tables into an intuitive, map-based interface designed to make regional antibiotic resistance information easier to use during treatment decisions.
