Project Background: Data2go.nyc is a mapping and data tool built around federal, state, and city data on a broad range of issues critical to the well-being of all New Yorkers. The project was created by the nonprofit Measure of America of the Social Science Research Council with funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.
My Role: Application development and coding.

Features:

Stat Explorer – Visualize data by category and sub category.

Geographical units – Data available at multiple geographical units; Census Tract, Community District, Neighborhood Tabulation Areas, and Borough.
Switch indicators – Click on a graph, module, or submodule to activate a new indicator on the map and histogram.

Neighborhood Explorer – Allows the user to focus on one neighborhood and explore the relevant indicators.

Custom Dashboard – User can also create a custom dashboard with exactly the indicators of interest right next to each other.

Compare View – Allows the user to search for and compare two indicators. Results of of the comparisons are shown on a scatter plot as well as a bivariate choropleth map.

Demographic Explorer – Shows a select number of indicators where users can see how distribution varies by race and gender for every borough and community district.

Data Stories – A configurable view that can adapt for multiple data stories aggregating a set of modules and graphs to tell a story about a particular topic.

Export image or .xlsx – Download all the data or filtered data to the indicator as .xlsx format. Export the chart to an image.
